Welcoming with joy the news of the canonization of Blessed Pier Giorgio Frassati on August 3, the diocesan AC has organized a series of moments of prayer in which to entrust our prayer intentions to Mary and Blessed Pier Giorgio, entitled "Grains of Hope. In Prayer with Pier Giorgio Frassati". 

During these 4 appointments we will pray the different mysteries of the Rosary, a practice very dear to Pier Giorgio. In the coming months there will be other appointments in some Frassatian places, for which you can find all the dates in the poster.

As part of the events scheduled at the tent in Piazza Castello in Turin, the committee for the centenary of Pier Giorgio Frassati is organizing a talk dedicated to the next saint. An hour of dialogue with Roberto Falciola, vice-postulator of the cause and president of the AC of Turin and Federica Agagliati, a young "frassatutor" specializing in child neuropsychiatry, moderated by Paolo Pellegrini of Mediacor, to understand the relevance of Pier Giorgio's message for young people today.

Following the example of Pier Giorgio Frassati, we will commit ourselves to living according to a style of brotherhood and sharing, friendship and mutual support, love for others and respect for nature. 

Landing at Malpensa airport, a transfer will take us to the “Santuario di Oropa”. From there, the pilgrimage will continue on foot, together, step by step, to discover this young man and prepare our hearts to listen. Our days will be enriched by moments of prayer, walking, reflection and discussion, intertwined with spaces for sharing and relaxation. They will be precious opportunities to get to know our travel companions, build authentic relationships, make friends, and tell each other our stories.

In prayer with Pier Giorgio towards the Holy Year

Basilica of S. Maria sopra Minerva in Rome

We will gather to recite the First Vespers of Advent together and to adore the Blessed Sacrament (the event poster is attached), accompanied by the reading of Pier Giorgio's letters and the words of Don Paolo Asolan - author of his spiritual biography "Io, ma non più io" (Ed. San Paolo 2023).

In this basilica lie the remains of St. Catherine, to whom Pier Giorgio was particularly devoted. One day he said to his friend Franz Massetti, “Look, St. Catherine still had the gift of seeing Jesus in life, but we must wait to go to Heaven”; only four days later, Pier Giorgio reached that Heaven with death, which he awaited as the most beautiful day of his life. It was the Holy Year of 1925.

For those who cannot be present, the celebration will be broadcast live on the Facebook page “Basilica Rettoria S. Maria sopra Minerva”
If for organizational reasons it is not possible to participate in our meeting, it would be nice if in other places in Italy and the world Pier Giorgio's friends could gather to pray in the same way. For this purpose we are sending you the prayer booklet.

This meeting will be our way of saying with Pier Giorgio: “You see, the plans for the Holy Year are grandiose” and like him prepare ourselves to live fully this time in which “the graces of the Lord multiply” (To Franz Massetti, 4 January 1925)
